I’m not usually one to get all excited about something like a pitcher, but the Heffer Pitcher is just plain awesome.  Unlike a normal pitcher, this pitcher has an udder to hold your milk.  Yes, it’s a little creepy, but it’s just about the best morning after conversation piece I can think of. What would a guy even say to seeing that on your kitchen table as he’s having coffee?

I know, I know, “OMG” is for teenagers and dorks - but I really can’t help myself this time.  I came across the Dough Nu Matic EZ Donut Maker and now all I can think about it making dozens of teeny tiny little donuts.  Let me tell you why.  For most of my life, I lived near a Kroger grocery store that carried the most heavenly donuts imaginable.  They were brown sugar cinnamon cake donuts, and even though they were generic, they were always soft and delicious.    I would buy a box every few weeks as an indulgence, and all was right with the world.

Until Wal-Mart - yes, the evil empire, indeed -  came in and built a Super Wal-Mart.  All the grocery stores suffered, and ultimately, the Kroger lost.  They went out of business and I lost my donuts forever.  I tried the donuts at Wal-Mart, but they were just awful.

With a trusty Dough Nu Matic by my side, I could experiment endlessly until I find a way to recreate those amazing brown sugar cinnamon donuts in my own home.  Only then will balance be restored.

At any given time, I have at least 3-4 boxes of brownie mixes in my pantry.  I’ve also been known to make them from scratch once in a while, but I don’t have the kind of time 50s housewives had so that isn’t exactly a regular occurrence.  I love plain brownies, frosted brownies, Funfetti Brownies, and even cheesecake brownies (on occasion), so you can probably guess how thrilled I was to see a pan just for brownies.

I love ice cream.  Actually, love is a huge understatement, but I really can’t think of a better word.  If ice cream were a man, we’d be happily married and living in a subdivision somewhere by now.

Just yesterday, I could have used this machine to save at least an hour.  I spent way too long peeling potatoes for potato salad, and my fingers have the cuts to prove it.  I have a similar peeling device for apples, but it doesn’t work on potatoes.  I guess the spring isn’t tight enough to get through the tougher potato skin.

Of course, that makes me think that I could find a way to tighten the spring on my apple peeler and get the same results.  Maybe I don’t need a potato peeler after all…

I’ve always dreamt of being one of those quaint 1950s women who has time to do things like peel vegetables and make fresh juice, but it never seems to work out that way here in the year 2008.  I guess I should probably shift my fantasy to something more realistic like marrying a rich man who can get us hired help (kidding!).

I always tell myself that I’m going to do the right thing when it comes to recycling and green habits, but I rarely do.  I started composting once about a year ago, with a giant ugly compost bin in the backyard.  Unfortunately, that lasted about a week.  What can I say, the winters are cold and the summers are wet.  Who’s going to trudge outside to compost when there’s a perfectly good garbage disposal inside?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted my own espresso maker.  Sometime in the next few weeks, that dream is going to become a reality.  Although I’m not decided on a model just yet, this Breville Cafe Roma Espresso Maker is the front runner for now.  I’ve researched quite a few, and most are either really expensive, or they get really bad reviews.  This Breville model seems to be the best combination of quality and price that I’ve seen yet.
