You Are Here Doormat

Feb 1, 2009 Author: admin | Filed under: Gifts

I know this You Are Here Doormat has been around for a little while now, but I just can’t get over how cute it is.  It would be perfect for something outside, a clubhouse, an apartment, or even a loft, depending on your decor.  I also like that it’s made of recycled rubber.

The mat is $32 over at Chiasso, and it would make a great gift for your apartment.  I know a particularly surly young philosophy major I’ll be gifting one to.

Reindeer Car Antlers - That’s Right, a Car Reindeer

Nov 14, 2008 Author: admin | Filed under: Gifts

These car antlers are the most ridiculous product I’ve seen in quite some time, but I just can’t stop smiling about them.   Reindeer antlers for the car?  It sounds like something my dad would have done when we were kids.  My mom would roll her eyes, of course, because that was just her job -  but we would have loved it.

If you feel like you need your own holiday “car reindeer” for the kids or grandkids, you can pick up a set of reindeer car antlers for around $20.   Or, even better, you can pick up a set of antlers and convert a friend’s car when they’re not around.  This would be an especially great prank while he/she is at work.  Just wait until the end of the day when everyone comes out and sees your friend’s new reindeer car.

P.S. - Car antlers will match perfectly with a loud Christmas tie.

Although I’m not a huge tea fan myself, I think Adagio Teas is just the cat’s pajamas.  Whenever I find myself in need of a gift for a friend who drinks tea at all, they’re the first company to spring to mind.  No matter how cheap your package, everything comes to you looking sophisticated and stylish.  It’s definitely not granny tea.

This Tea Flavors Sampler is perfect for casual gifts where you don’t want to look cheap and yet you don’t want to spend a lot.  For a mere $11, you get 6 flavors of tea.  Your lucky recipient will get 1 ounce each of apricot, blueberry, chocolate, cinnamon, passion fruit & tangerine in this Tea Flavors Sampler.

Teaposy Gift Set - A Blossoming Good Time

Feb 22, 2008 Author: admin | Filed under: Gifts

The Teaposy Gift Set may be a little weird, but I feel like I’ve finally found the perfect gift for those random but important women that I can never seem to buy for. At around $75, it’s a little pricey for some (definitely too much for the aunt who’s always bugging me about getting married), but it’s perfect for the ones I actually like.

The basic concept is this - you put the Teaposy into hot water and the flower expands and sinks to the bottom. The basic Teaposy gift set comes with 2 cups, 2 saucers, a teakettle, and 6 packets of Teaposy tea. Everything’s clear, too, which is awesome because it lets you fully appreciate the blooming process.

Now that I think about it, the Teaposy might not be a bad item to have around for a boring night laying around the house. There’s no harm in indulging yourself once in a while.

This mug is making me giggle this morning. The idea is that you have a simple mug showing Adam and Eve, covered by fig leaves so you don’t see the naughty bits. When you add hot coffee, though, the fig leaves fade away to reveal their anatomical correctness.

Adam & Eve Fig Leaves Coffee Mug

I suppose I shouldn’t be shocked, since Adam and Eve are said to be the original troublemakers…but I suspect that this mug could get a girl (or guy) in some trouble in a politically correct workplace. If you work with anyone like Angela on The Office, I don’t recommend bringing one of these to work.
