Unusual & Unconventional Gift Ideas
Even though I like to keep things pretty casual, I still like to know that my t-shirts and jeans are planted firmly on the “girly” side of things. This Dandelion Birds Tee is a perfect example - the flower giving way to birds is both pretty and very appropriate as we’re going through a beautiful spring right now. It would be great with a pair of yoga pants or shorts for an active day, or paired with cute boot-cut jeans for hanging out around the house.
What do you think? Would you wear it?

If you’re anything like me, you probably love modern style but hate the fact that so much of it is uncomfortable when it’s translated into furniture. For a long time, this was such a problem that I swore off modern furniture entirely. Lately, though, there’s been a rise in manufacturers who know how to make furniture that looks good and still manages to be comfortable.
As I was browsing for some kind of a modern leather office chair, I found this selection - all of which look like they’d be both comfortable and cute (though the Muse may not be for anyone who sits for LONG periods of time). What do you think? Click here to view the entire selection.
Also, on an unrelated note (ignore this if you don’t know what I’m talking about) - The throat sighs!
I absolutely love this new comforter set from Calvin Klein. It’s not often that you find an attractive bedding set that’s not so overtly feminine that no man would ever sleep in it. This set manages to pull it off, though. It’s a little pricey, but if you have the cash to spare, it’s infinitely more attractive than most of what I’ve seen in discount stores.
You can get the Calvin Klein “Cut Flowers” Comforter Set at Macy’s by clicking the picture below.
Calvin Klein “Cut Flowers” Comforter Set, Queen Bedding
Price: $144.99
Offering restful visions of a landscape in bloom, this comforter overflows with a modern flower print, trailing your bed from top to bottom. Reversible in soothing smoke and clove.
If you know any monkey fans, this monkey tshirt would be a cute addition to their wardrobe. It’s cut for women, but it’s extra long to avoid those embarrassing moments when you bend over or lean forward and end up showing your butt to the world.
You can get the Monkey Tee at Delia’s by clicking the picture below. Be sure to order a size bigger than usual, as their stuff usually runs a little on the small side AND it’s a cotton shirt…so you know how that goes.

I am a huge fan of childhood kitsch gone grown-up, so I found this silver Rubber Chicken Necklace absolutely adorable. It’s way silly, but made of adult materials so you could actually get away with wearing it. What do you think? Is a Rubber Chicken Necklace too goofy, or would you wear it? I’m picturing it on casual Saturdays out, or artsy types…or just on anyone with a good sense of humor.

Ever since Nanda came out with Clocky, I’ve been smitten. I’ve held off on buying, though, because the green and white models never really did that much for me. This raspberry/pink Clocky rolling alarm clock is gorgeous, though.
In case you’re not familiar with Clocky, it’s an alarm clock that rolls away from you when it goes off. It’s designed for people (like myself) who have become too adept at shutting off their alarm clocks without actually waking up. So yes, that’s around $50 for an alarm clock that might just save your job or grade point average on a big day. Get your Pink Clocky here.
I’m sure Samwell’s “lawyers” are going to come back around here to yell at me for yet another product I didn’t create or distribute, but I’m not that concerned (see my What What Hat post for details). This “What What in the Butt Shirt” is funny. If you wear this, you will have the power to force the people you see to remember the song and then walk around with it stuck in their heads all day. How cool is that? Granted, it may work better with a young crowd than it would at the local retirement home…

Although Delia’s is calling this shirt the “Twilight Tee“, it’s quite obviously a tribute to Van Gogh’s Starry Night - and a gorgeous one, at that. I’m lucky enough to get to wear whatever I want for work, so this is definitely going on my Christmas list. I can only imagine what a great conversation piece this shirt will be, too - the allover print makes it pretty stunning.

As I said before, I am in love with the awesome suitcases from Double Dutch. I have wanted a new suitcase for a while now, and at this point, I am 99.9% certain that it’s going to be from Double Dutch. At the moment, this Green Dot Carry-On may be the frontrunner. Don’t you just love how shiny it is?
If you aren’t looking for a carryon (or if you just need the whole set), they also have a Green Dot Satchel, a Green Dot Upright, and a Green Dot Rolling Duffel. All pieces have a 3-year warranty.
Double Dutch Suitcase, 21″ Green Dot Carry-On
Price: $71.99
Take a trip to a groovier time with the Double Dutch retro carry-on. Sure to turn heads as it comes around the baggage carousel, it puts dull luggage to shame with vibrant pastels and a funky polka-dot pattern. Three-year warranty.
I recently discovered Double Dutch suitcases, and I have to say, they are the most adorable suitcases I have ever seen. Take, for example, this Green Paisley Carry-On. I have seen a lot of cute colored suitcases, but never anything like this. They use a coated canvas to give it that unique shine, but don’t worry about messing it up - they have a 3 year warranty.
At this point, I’m sold on the brand. Now, it’s just a matter of choosing which one I want!
